Welcome to Cetin Ates' Art ClassStudio Art Design : Gifted and Talented Visual Arts, Grades : 6th to 8th Hello dear students and parents, My name is Cetin Ates (Chaten Atash). I'm a sculptor and art teacher since 1997. I was born in Turkiye and moved to USA in 2005. I began to work with EBRPSS, Gifted & Talented Program as a Talented Visual Art Teacher in 2015-16 school year and worked with different schools and 1st through 12th grade students. My basic goal is to teach my students Elements of art and Principles of design like all the other art teachers. Main differences between the art teachers are approaching the subjects/objects, projects, methods, and material/technique. Even the all students selected to have the service in our program, we need to know that their backgrounds in art would be different than each other. Also, some of the students might started to take the service since they are Elementary School but some of them might be new in the program. This is why I have to assess my students individually. I can not expect to see the same improvement on their skills because each students will show different performanceses depends on the project, method and technique. During the school year, I will have a chance to know my students, about their skills and interests which will help me to support their weaknesses and show their strenghts also. We shouldn't forget that self-confidence is very important in art like other skill base subjects such as music, theatre, dance, sports etc. Again, in my classrooms even the students are all in the same grades, the students may have different projects or they have the same project but different material/technique and method can be chosen by them or suggesting by me to complete the project. To me the most important thing the students should focus well on their projects and try to do their best during the process. Dear parents, education is a team work. Please talk with your child about our projects and process. You can ask them to take their projects pictures to show you the process. I believe that for having a powerful/successful education needs 4 strong columns: Parent/Guardian, a student, a school and a teacher. If all these 4 columns are strong enough and supporting each others well, the success will come at the end. Of course you can contact me anytime using my email address. Please, if you have any questions/concerns, let me know. I will try to answer you as soon as I can. Thank you for your time. Have a wonderful school year to all of us.
